Italian Sausage with peppers, onions, and candied garlic tomato sauce

Serves 4-6

Ingredients:

4-6 links Italian sausage

30-60ml olive oil

1 large red onion, julienned

2 sweet peppers, julienned

3-4 garlic cloves, minced

750ml candied garlic tomato sauce

10ml of your favorite Italian spice blend

80ml chopped basil

Directions:

Heat 30ml oil in pan, brown Italian sausage on both sides, remove and cut into pieces

Add onions and peppers to pan, adding more oil if necessary. Sauté till lightly caramelized

Add garlic, season with some salt and pepper, and saute another 2-3 minutes

Add chopped sausage, sauce, and seasoning. Cover and cook till sausage cooked.

Remove lid, add basil, and serve.

This goes great with pasta, gnocchi, mashed potatoes, polenta, or in a sandwich
