Shannon only request on our visit to California was to go to the beach and see the waves crashing against the rocks. We were staying in Santa Rosa, and after some research, I thought I would take her to Bodega Bay for a picnic and watch the waves. It was only a short drive, and upon arrival, Shannon was not impressed (She told me this much later in the day) Bodega bay is a nice little bay with shops and restaurants by the water. It was nice, but not what she was looking for. I told her not to worry, the best is yet to come!

After stopping for some “adult” beverages for picnic, we begin driving around the bay to the Bodega Bay Trailhead. When we pulled into the parking lot, it became apparent, I was her hero! It was everything she hoped to see.

Our parking spot was the perfect spot with a great view. I pulled out our table and chairs (we bring these along on all our road trips) and set up! On our trip down, we had stopped win Washington and Oregan picking up charcuterie and cheese along the way. Now it was time to enjoy it!

After enjoying our cheese and charcuterie, we deiced to explore some of the trails along the cliffs and areas were we could access the beach.

Photos could never give you the true experience of being….we can’t wait to go back, and to explore other beaches along the coast!
